The US Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit corporation that was established in April 2004 and has developed a unique program called LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). LEED is a Green Building Rating System® that is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. There are several LEED subcategories; however, the program that lends itself to the business of pest control in existing buildings is LEED-EB O&M (Existing Building, Operations & Maintenance) which was created to maximize operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts.
LEED-EB O&M provides recognized, performance-based benchmarks for building owners and managers to measure operations, improvements and maintenance on a consistent scale. These programs are road maps for delivering economically profitable, environmentally responsible, healthy, productive places to work.
Environmental Coalition Incorporated is well versed in the art of LEED certification. In fact, we service more LEED-EB O&M certified properties in the city of Houston than any other pest control service provider. EQc 3.9 (v2008) and IEQc 3.6 (v2009) are both classified as Indoor Integrated Pest Management. Regardless of which credit you pursue, it is not for the faint of heart. There is a lot to these little, one point credits that many pest control service providers will overlook, potentially missing out on credit you deserve. Fortunately, you have a well-informed, up-to-date ally on your side in Environmental Coalition Incorporated.
It may interest you to know a few things about Environmental Coalition Incorporated:
- The first pest control service provider in the nation to be registered with the United States Green Building Council
- The first pest control organization to have a staff member on the US Green Building Council Gulf Coast Region’s Education Committee
It may also interest you to know that our expertise and service lent to the certification of the following:
- First and only LEED EB 2.0 certified property in Houston
- First LEED EB O&M certified property in Texas
- First Silver and Platinum rated LEED EB O&M properties in Texas
- First Houston office campus to achieve LEED EB Gold
- First Texas mixed-use commercial & retail project to achieve LEED certification
With all of that stated, it should be noted that ECI takes LEED certification very seriously. We have written countless rebuttals for LEED-AP’s across the nation regarding pest control performance and LEED accreditation.
Environmental Coalition Incorporated takes the task on ourselves – our reputation is at stake. We prepare the documents you need to submit to the LEED reviewers or your LEED-AP. We send you the required notifications. We track and monitor our progress during your review period. We take the stress out of earning your pest management credit and keep it firmly at our feet. Why? It is just one less thing for you to worry about.
One other item of note: Existing clients pay nothing extra for their EQc 3.9 or IEQc 3.6 certification. The extensive documentation we provide is absolutely free.
